Freestanding Soapstone Masonry Heaters
Limited Footprint & Outstanding Heat Capacity
Our custom freestanding Soapstone Masonry Heaters are a great option for a smaller home of 1000-1200 square feet. This unit is entirely handmade using firebrick and castable components for the core and soapstone as the veneer. Because we pre-cut the materials for the outside and the inside of the heater here at our shop, an installation of this heater can be done in about three days. The exit can be on the rear or the top, and can be designed with or without an upper chamber bake oven.
Measurements:
The soapstone masonry heater without a bake oven measures roughly 30″ wide by 27.5″ deep and 60″ tall. The unit with the oven will measure 10-12″ higher.
Both units are classified as standard masonry heaters with 4″ clearance to combustibles.
Cost:
The heater with the oven and a bead detail runs $10,500 not installed and without freight. The soapstone heater with a similar detail, but without the oven is $9300. Either model with a simple chamfer or bevel detail versus the bead would reduce the cost of the larger unit to $9000 and the smaller unit to just over $8000.
Basic installation costs for the larger heater and bake oven would be around $2200. The smaller heater would be more in the range of $1600.
